For Father's Day 2022, I want to write about the three fathers I have known and what they mean to me.
My three fathers consist of my brother, John Lindsay Blackwell, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on May 29, 2022 while going to work; my dad, also John Lindsay Blackwell, who died when I was in college (many years ago); and my husband, Malcolm, who I have been married to for 15 years.
Each of these wonderful men has helped shape who I am and I do not believe that I would be where I am without their support. When I was wrong, I was scolded. When I won, I was cheered. When I lost, I was encouraged to try harder. I was/am protected, nurtured and emboldened to follow my dreams.
My story is not unique, but it is the story of a sister, daughter and wife who can never repay what has been given so freely and fully. Don't ever forget to hug your dad.
Happy Father's Day!
